Lymphedema and Lymphatic Drainage

Lymph drainage is a technique used to decrease swelling due to cancer surgery and radiation as well as long term medical issues. It is used in combination with compression bandaging, pumps, and compression garments to manage lymphedema. All of the physical therapists in our office are certified, lymphedema therapists. More information about lymph drainage is available at Upledger Institute International.
We carry a supply of Medi brand compression stockings, gloves, and sleeves at our clinic.  We sell them to our patients at our cost.

Sexual Health & Pelvic PT

Physical therapy can help to alleviate physical restrictions in the connective tissue surrounding and supporting the uterus, tubes, and ovaries allowing for better blood flow within the pelvis and helping to normalize cycles. Once pregnant, physical therapy and can help to alleviate many issues like morning sickness, reflux, and back pain. Physical therapy can prepare the pelvic floor for a less traumatic delivery before and help return the pelvis to optimal function afterward.

Traditional Orthopedic

Orthopedic physical therapy focuses on treating conditions that are affecting the musculoskeletal system, which is made up of your joints, muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons.  Many people know of Kinesio Taping from watching pro sports or the Olympic Games. Kinesio Tape is a stretchy cotton tape which can be applied to the skin in a number of different ways to help to relieve pain, increase motion, or decrease swelling. It is used to help treatment continue for up to a few days following a therapy session. All of our physical therapists are certified Kinesio Taping practitioners.

Visceral Manipulation

The name sounds harsh, but it is a very gentle release. This technique is designed to release the ligaments and connective tissue which surrounds and supports the internal organs and attaches them to the skeleton. Just as a therapist would mobilize the ligaments in the shoulder for someone who has lost motion in the shoulder, the ligaments that support the organs also need to be treated if they are tight. For more information visit the Barral Institute.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a very gentle technique which is used for the treatment of headaches, neck and back pain, and sinus pain.

Real Time Ultrasound

We’re able to use ultrasound to look at muscles, tendons and connective tissues.  We’re also able to use ultrasound to look at different strains on the bladder, how well the bladder empties, and pelvic floor contractions.
